Background
About Roger Wilder
I am a recent graduate of Bowdoin College with a major in Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology and minors in History and Japanese, and I am currently working as a research intern in Dr. Lauren Sallan's macroevolution lab at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Okinawa, Japan. I have research experience in coral biology, fish behavior, aquaculture ecology and plant physiology through academic programs and internships in the Florida Keys and Juneau, Alaska. I also have experience in science communication through part-time employment as a marine aquarist at Southwest Reef Co. LLC and as an education volunteer at the Hanazono Church Aquarium while studying abroad in Kyōto, Japan. My goal is to enter a Ph.D. program in the fall of 2026 to study coral biology and coral reef ecology with the ultimate goal of combining research, writing and verbal communication to advocate for coastal ecosystem conservation on a global scale.
