About Rohan Prabhu

Hi! I'm an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Lafayette College. At the intersection of psychology, engineering, and design, my research group works towards better designing human-centered solutions, and formulating effective design tools and methods. In our current research, we are exploring the role of individual differences in sustainable design, and the relationship between design representations and designers' use of domain knowledge. I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a Doctoral Minor in Psychology from Penn State University. I also hold a master's degree in Engineering Design from Penn State and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka. My design experience stems from numerous user-centered design and research projects, both in physical and digital product design, including projects in Human Factors Research and Design. I also have experience managing project teams through my roles as the Team Lead of NITK Baja Racing and the Project and Engineering Manager of the Penn State Advanced Vehicle Team.
