About Rohtash Mann

I am an aerospace engineer with a strong theoretical foundation as well as extensive practical experience. In addition, I am a qualified pilot. This piloting experience provides me a broad understanding and a unique perspective that many other aerospace engineers do not have. Recently, as part of the Boeing-sponsored Supersonic Cruise Demonstrator capstone project, I was the Pathfinder (sub-scale testbed) team lead and a flight test lead. Design, analysis, and testing of the complex aircraft configuration in this project enabled me to gain experience with challenging S&C problems. In this project, I also supported wind tunnel testing, flight stabilization implementation, telemetry design, test checklist preparation, and performance analysis. I was also a member of the SARP rocket team for two years. Within this team, I led the Umbilical System sub-team, wherein I applied iterative design skills to successfully lead the team in engineering an automatic disconnect rocket umbilical. I also gained extensive experience with testing, including test procedures, data acquisition, and data analysis. Furthermore, as a research assistant to the Superheated Droplet Vaporization research project at the University of Washington, I conducted thermodynamic and chemical analysis of various subject liquids, as well as through heat transfer analysis and optics design for the experimental apparatus. Simultaneously with my engineering education, I ambitiously earned my private pilot licence, multi-engine rating, night rating, and VFR OTT rating, and am currently in the process of earning my commercial pilot licence and instrument rating. Aviation perfectly augments my engineering degree, as it has provided deep understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, flight mechanics, aircraft procedures, and the airport environment. I have a strong foundation in control systems, avionics, systems engineering, flight test engineering, flight dynamics, and air-breathing propulsion.
