About Roja Singh

I am an electrical engineer with an expertise in reliability testing of next generation photovoltaic (PV) technologies. During my PhD at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, I studied the degradation mechanisms of perovskite solar cells, modules and perovskite-based tandems under continuous illumination and elevated temperature conditions. This experience allowed me to develop an understanding of how the surface morphology and crystal structure of thin-films corelates to the performance and stability of devices. Using the fundamental knowledge of degradation mechanism paved the way for fabrication of more robust devices. Testing reliability of cells, modules and tandems under accelerated testing protocols strengthened the transition of fundamental research to industrially relevant technology. I also specialize in various thin film deposition and characterization techniques • PVD (sputtering of metal oxides, thermal evaporation of organic compounds and metals) • CVD (ALD of metal oxides) • Structural and morphological characterization (XRD, SEM, etc.) • Optical characterization (PL, UV-VIS, etc.) • Electrical characterization (EQE, IS, etc.) • Encapsulation techniques (thermal and UV- cured) My research interests are fabrication, characterization, reliability testing of semiconductor-based technologies for opto-electronic and energy applications.
