About Roland Hellberg

My work history includes many years of experience in senior management and leadership positions, including Managing Director. I have significant experience both with strategic aspects at an organizational level, including business planning and development, and business performance, including budgets, profitability and personnel management. I have worked in a variety of large and small organisations across a range of industries and have often held a liaison role coordinating various functions and activities at different levels within the organisation. I am accustomed to building both internal and external long-term relationships and networks with customers, partners and employees. My work has often involved a focus on external business relationships in an international environment. My career has provided many opportunities for exploring the interaction between the academic and practical aspects of business. Working as a researcher, teacher and supervisor has deepened my ability both to engage in critical thinking and to appreciate the principles underlying successful business operations. This has inspired me to engage in a process of continuous quality improvement in these joint aspects of my career. My work with the not-for-profit sector has been largely in the sporting arena, where I have been a participant and served as a volunteer elected official at local, national and international levels. Some examples of my core skills and strengths include: business and services development; strategic and operational planning, marketing strategy, market research and competitive analysis; budgeting, costs and pricing; negotiations and agreements; project and process management; logistics; supply chain design; personnel training. My complementary skills in the academic context include research, investigations and textbook authorship; development and coordination of courses and study tours; presenting lectures, examining students and supervising higher degree candidates.
