About Roman Karas

I’m a Health & Economics student who cares deeply about understanding how innovation can support healthier communities, especially in under-resourced areas. I’ve been fortunate to learn from programs, mentors, and educators who opened doors for me, and I try to use those opportunities to give back wherever I can.My interest in biology and human performance has grown through hands-on experiences, including the University of Massachusetts’ Pathway to Biomedical Professions program, where I studied physiology, biomechanics, and neural systems and the University of Michigan's Biomedical Engineering program. Opportunities like these have helped me develop a clearer sense of how scientific knowledge can translate into meaningful solutions.At the same time, I’ve been supported by an encouraging community of teachers, coaches, and local leaders who have helped me explore entrepreneurship. Their guidance allowed me to start Karas Innovations LLC and pursue projects around athlete health. I’ve had the chance to share this work through Junior Achievement and TEDxWCC, and I’m grateful for the platforms that allowed me to amplify an issue that matters to me and many others.Whether in the lab, on the court, or in student organizations, I’ve learned how powerful collaboration can be when people believe in your potential. I hope to continue growing in biotechnology, health technology, or human performance research while staying connected to the communities that helped me get here.I’m always open to learning from others, especially those working in health innovation, biology education, and entrepreneurship.
