About Romarga Waworuntu

Exposed to a TV ad at an early age about a female teacher in an Indonesian forest, I told my mom that I wanted to be just like that when I grew up. My mom was shocked. She doubted that her little girl, who grew up in the country’s capital, could survive a day in the middle of a forest. Spoiler alert, I did not get to realize that specific dream. But the thought of wanting a job that allows me to make a difference in the world lingers, even years after I saw the ad. I believe that it is the power that storytelling holds. Starting my career as a digital campaign executive at a global agency seemed like a mismatch at first, given my bachelor’s degree in International Relations. However, I soon realized the opportunity it presented to understand the different ways to tell a story and reach the audience. Throughout my professional experiences, I have taken different roles in communications, including account management for digital campaigns, B2B sales in mobile marketing, and corporate communications for a leading Indonesian bank, which enriched my knowledge in communicating with different audiences, especially through digital platforms. Mid-career, I pursued an MA in International Communication, which elevated my understanding of communications and media. I feel fortunate to do what I love. In my current role, I enjoy applying what I have learned through my 13 years of professional and academic experiences at work: the human-centered principles in problem-solving. I do believe that effective communication, when combined with strategic and critical thinking, will lead to business growth and innovations.
