Background

About Ron Alexander

Higher Education Leader | Mental Health Counselor-in-Training also studying Homeland Security/Threat Assessment | Advocate for Student Healing & Accountability** Since 2013, I’ve dedicated my career to creating inclusive, responsive, and justice-centered spaces in higher education. With over a decade of experience in student affairs—including leadership roles in residence life, student conduct, and Title IX—I’ve had the privilege of supporting students through some of the most formative and challenging moments of their college journey. Now, as a graduate student in a CACREP-accredited Master of Science program in Mental Health Counseling (Class of 2027), I’m building on that foundation with clinical training and research in trauma-informed care, grief and loss, identity development, and recovery support. 🧠 **My career is evolving toward the intersection of counseling and higher education.** I’m passionate about working with:* College students in recovery from substance use and behavioral health challenges * LGBTQIA+ and QTPOC students navigating identity, family, and belonging * Students impacted by trauma, grief, and systemic harm * Restorative and educational approaches within student conduct and Title IX * Creating healing-informed alternatives to traditional discipline and support systems From crisis response and conflict resolution to peer mentoring and culture change, I bring a holistic, student-centered lens to every role I step into. I believe deeply in meeting students where they are, honoring their lived experiences, and walking with them toward growth—whether that means accountability, healing, or both.**Professional Highlights 10+ years of progressive leadership in student affairs * Crisis Response and Management experience of over a decade * Specialized expertise in residence life, community standards, and student conduct models * Investigations and policy work under Title IX and related compliance frameworks * Award-winning LGBTQIA+ advocacy and campus coalition building * Active involvement in ASCA, NASPA, and ACPA communities * Conference presentations on Gen Z training, ethical leadership, and restorative justice As I move into counseling roles on college campuses, I’m eager to bridge clinical and co-curricular care—partnering with institutions that want to reimagine how we support students in crisis, in conflict, and in transition. Let's connect if you're working at the intersection of mental health, homeland security/crisis, and higher ed—or if you're just passionate about helping students thrive.
