About Ron Argotsinger
Ron was born in Denver but has lived in California, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. Ron started playing trombone at the age of 12 because his doctor thought it would help strengthen his lungs, which were quite weak due to severe asthma. After graduating from Arvada High School, he attended University of Northern Colorado and received a Bachelor of Music Education degree studying with Jack Robinson and Buddy Baker. Ron's teaching career began in 1978 in a small town in Nebraska. In 1991, he completed a Master of Music Education degree at the University of Northern Colorado. Ron retired in May 2010 after 32 years of teaching instrumental music. Finishing his teaching career at Adams City Middle School in Adams County School District 14, Ron has also taught in Wray, Sterling and Overland High School in Cherry Creek School District. Ron's groups have traveled and performed at music festivals in Rapid City SD, Dallas TX and Orlando FL, as well Dublin, Ireland. Ron has also served as clinician and adjudicator in Colorado. Ron's family are all musicians from his wife Monica to his five children, all playing piano as well as trombone, percussion, clarinet, flute and trumpet. Ron’s 3 oldest children are currently working in the field of music education. In addition to his career in music, Ron is a member of the Community of Christ. Ron has served as lay minister in a variety of positions. He served as Congregation Financial Officer in Ogallala and Pastor in Wray. Currently he serves as associate Pastor after serving 9 years as Pastor of the Denver Congregation. Since his retirement, Ron has devoted a great deal of time and energy into playing trombone. He plays regularly with the Tromboniacs, a trombone quartet, the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, the Rocky Mountain Brassworks, a British style Brass Band and is conducting the Denver Pops Orchestra.
