I began my healthcare career at Massachusetts General Hospital, where I gained invaluable expertise in patient care, medical devices, and clinical administration. My time in the ER was transformative—I learned patient triage based on clinical need, coordinated treatments and physician consults across all medical disciplines, and witnessed firsthand the profound impact of resuscitation efforts by doctors and nurses. In the Respiratory Therapy department, I developed technical skills by applying heart monitors, interpreting EKGs, and calibrating ventilator settings for critical patients. My work in Bio-Medical Engineering involved maintaining essential code call equipment throughout the hospital and training healthcare professionals in their use. Under the mentorship of Dr. J. Warren Harthorne, founder of the MGH pacemaker program, I was introduced to pacemaker technology, observing procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab while learning about the use of temporary, and permanently implanted pacemakers. In Clinical Administration, I managed budgeting and coordinated non-clinical patient supplies and services for ICU, CCU, and general care floors, ensuring optimal care delivery across all disciplines. Encouraged by Dr. Harthorne, I transitioned to a career in pacemaker sales. My clinical foundation enabled me to excel, achieving the top sales position in my second year with Cordis Corporation. I became an authority in physiological and minute ventilation sensor-driven pacemaker technology, trained the entire sales team, introduced groundbreaking clinical trials to my physician clients, and witnessed the transformative impact on patients and families. At Guidant/Boston Scientific, I spearheaded the creation of the pioneering Electrophysiology Fellows Program in hospitals on the East Coast. This initiative championed the adoption of Automatic Implantable Defibrillators (AICD), positively transforming countless lives while delivering substantial financial gains. Since 2018, I have been co-leading a dedicated team committed to creating groundbreaking solutions aimed at helping clinicians minimize and potentially eradicate lethal Central Line Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI).
