Professional Engineer and Project Manager with over 35 years experience in Ports, Harbours, and Maritime Engineering fields. A broad range of engineering experience including coastal engineering, navigation assessments, vessel motion and mooring analyses, planning and detailed design of marine structures, construction planning and management, surface and underwater inspections. Project types include liquid bulk (oil, jet fuel, bunker fuel, LNG, LPG), dry bulk (coal, mineral concentrates, grain, potash, sand & gravel), heavy lift & ro-ro terminals, break-bulk/general cargo, container terminals, ferry terminals, cruise facilities, small craft harbours and marinas, boat ramps, urban waterfronts, and shoreline protection. Ron is a member of the technical standards committee responsible for CAN/CSA Z276, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) – Production, Storage and Handling, and participated in the development of the companion express document, EXP276.1, Design requirements for marine structures associated with LNG facilities (DRMS). He has worked on more than 20 proposed LNG export projects in BC and elsewhere including LNG Canada, Kitimat LNG, Aurora LNG, Woodfibre LNG and others. He is also a contributing author of the ASCE Manual of Practice 129, Mooring of Ships to Piers and Wharves, Edited by J.W. Gaythwaite. Recent project highlights-Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP). Project Manager since 2015 for the planning, preliminary engineering, detailed engineering and construction support for the maritime infrastructure for the TMEP Project in Burnaby BC, including three new marine terminal export berths for tanker vessels up to Aframax in size. Construction completed in 2024. Estimated capital cost C$300+ million (marine terminal portion only)-Project Manager since 2008 for the planning, preliminary and detailed engineering of the maritime infrastructure for the Vancouver Airport Fuel Delivery (VAFD) Project, a new marine fuel receiving terminal located on the Fraser River in Richmond BC. The facility is designed to receive aviation fuel (Jet A1) from vessels ranging from barges to Panamax vessels. Construction completed 2024-Project Principal for the Prince Rupert Marine Fuels project for Wolverine Terminals, a unique new rail-to-barge bunker fuel processing and delivery facility in Prince Rupert. Completed in 2024, the project allows deep sea vessel owners and agents to refuel their vessels in Prince Rupert for the first time.
