About Ron Cooper

After following Splunk since some time around 2005 I have finally secured employment using software I love and see enormous potential for any enterprise or big data search solutions. Additionally I pair my Splunk knowledge with a background in Operations and Security. The bulk of my career experience has been focused in providing Enterprise Systems management and monitoring solutions. This is primarily, but not limited to, proactive monitoring of applications, software, or hardware. I have enjoyed the opportunity of working with many large telecommunications companies. I have worked with the majority of the popular software tools developed for enterprise level monitoring. I did spend some time working in open ended automation roles. If it needed automated I would find a way. I spent some time developing quite a bit of Test Automation and with the help of an awesome Team we extended the Test Automation to a Framework and even tied it to Splunk. Early in my career I started building correlation engines and rules much like exist in BSM. Even earlier I enjoyed parsing SNMP MIBs and working with all the network monitoring. My start in telecom was with fiber optic monitoring. I also have extensive background in computer security and have received the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification. I stay up to date with Security industry trends and enjoy working in both Security and Operations. I have a very well rounded background and if you would like something automated, I will know how to make it happen.
