I grew up watching my dad grind. He was a full-time police officer, but every night and weekend, he was on a job site, hammer in hand, running his own construction business. He worked harder than anyone I knew, but the one thing that always stuck with me? If he wasn’t working, he wasn’t making money. At eight years old, I was right there with him—tool belt on, learning the ropes. By my teens, I was working full-time in the summers, running jobs, and falling in love with the process. But I also saw the downside: the long hours, the constant stress, the feast-or-famine cycle. Like most people in the trades, my dad had built a job, not a business. Fast forward to my early career—I worked in construction, insurance adjusting, and consulting. I traveled the country, handled massive projects, and learned the business side of the industry. But something felt off. I was making someone else a lot of money while working crazy hours, barely seeing my family. So in 2017, I bet on myself. I co-founded High Point Roofing, later expanding into Krise Services, and we did things differently. We built systems, trained real sales teams, and scaled the companies beyond just us. No more being the guy doing everything. We focused on growth, leadership, and actual business strategy—something most contractors never get exposed to. As we scaled, I realized something: Most contractors aren’t failing because they’re bad at the work. They’re failing because no one ever taught them how to actually run a business.
