About Ron Perry

I am a Generalist. I could stop with that statement because it defines me. I love to learn and try new things. My story: Air Force kid. Lots of moving and travel which gave me a wonderful perspective on life and some amazing experiences with different cultures. Skipping forward past 9 moves around the world, stitches and fevers, buck teeth and glasses, and those never-ending awkward years, I did everything I possibly could in college; fraternity officer, intramural sports athlete, bus driver, and student. Go with what you know. I joined the Air Force as an officer out of college, joined Toastmasters, earned an MPA then, went to Maui, HI for a year to teach scuba diving. Came back to Austin and taught more scuba and became a commercial real estate agent. Went back for another graduate degree in Aquatic Biology. Life hit hard and I lost my mother and brother that summer and didn’t complete my thesis. Explored several interests for a couple of years, distance running, day trading and playing a LOT of tennis. Also became a sports massage therapist and personal trainer and opened my own business. LOVED IT. Competed in triathlons and running events as well. Flipped some houses, built a really nice one and sold it during the credit crunch of aught ’08. An amazing opportunity to work for the YMCA presented itself at a most opportune time; my wife was getting an events company off the ground. Many years later, I worked the gig economy, driving for Uber and Lyft, and working events on the weekends. My friend finally convinced me to manage his tax office, which I did for four years-learned a great deal that is been extremely useful-personally and professionally. I am currently on a new adventure as an Executive Assistant for two Executive Vice Presidents at Solarwinds - a billion dollar tech company. I am excited to bring all my energy and passion to an organization with an amazing open, honest, and slightly funky culture that can appreciate and find useful my gestalt-ness. Love to laugh and have fun with friends. I enjoy traveling to find great places to mountain bike. My superpower: I show up early to get stuff done. I have a great life with my wife Leilani and our dog Nibs.
