About Ron Risner

As President of Risner Consulting Group, Inc. for the past 20 years Ron has performed construction consulting and audit services on over 140 different capital projects ranging from to $5 billion Geographically, he has performed audit services across the U.S. as well as internationally. The projects have included hospitals, airports, retail chain stores, roadways, hotels, restaurants, pipelines, site development, infrastructure, office buildings, higher education facilities and theme parks. He is particularly adept at reviewing the adequacy of construction management processes (for both the owner and the contractor) and assisting owner's in recovering over billings that can occur on a project. His rule of thumb is that up to 1% of billings on a project are recoverable. He has also assisted several owner's in preparing a defense where construction litigation is involved. In 2012 he authored a book called "The Practitioner's Blueprint to Construction Auditing" which was published by the Institute of Internal Auditors. He has been a frequent speaker at IIA, MIS Training Institute and NACA national conferences. He offers a three day training class in construction auditing to internal audit departments. Prior to his construction related career he was Vice President and Auditor of a large bank holding company where 50 auditors reported to him directly (including 10 IT auditors) and another 100 indirectly. He reported to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
