About Ron Tapley

As a proud member of Canada's 3rd largest university, Ron Tapley oversees a dynamic team of investigators within the Community Safety Department (CSD). Forming strategic alliances, both within and externally, the team delivers critical, timely & quality supports to all campus community members. Ron Tapley is an experienced, dynamic campus safety leader recognized for possessing a people-focus balanced with a results-oriented approach. He is committed to publicly accountable campus safety with a forthright and transparent oversight balanced with a fiscally responsible customer service delivery mindset. With over 40 years of specialized community safety service, he is a dynamic, operational leader accustomed to leading and navigating through challenging times of change and uncertainty balanced with a goal oriented mindset and approach. In addition to leading high performing teams, project management, change management, risk mitigation, and strategic planning he continues to build his skills in all areas of effective leadership; especially emotional intelligence, transformational leadership, thought leadership and complex problem solving. He has led multiple initiatives that have realized organizational goals through effective personnel management and structural/procedural review and improvement. He stresses the importance, value, and necessity of building multi-disciplinary private-public partnerships to better serve our customers and the community. He is able to easily transition from an operational mindset to the people-side of change while simultaneously appreciating how people and processes interrelate to create best-in-class campus safety services. His extensive operational experience has provided a deep knowledge of both strategy and operational tactics. For example, guiding major international events on-campus; including the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) and the Invictus Games. Ron is the proud recipient of-the Police Exemplary Service Medal (2001) and-the Queen Elizabeth ll Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). Ron holds a BA (Crim) from U of T and a MA (Leadership) from Guelph specializing in self & org' awareness, change & risk management, ethical leadership, effective communication, coaching & mentoring, with a sound transformational perspective to enhance service delivery.
