About Ron Velli

There are a lot of words you could use to describe my life — boring is not one of them. My story begins after high school when I enlisted in the military. I wanted a challenge, adventure, and the chance to be part of something bigger than myself. Serving with the Marine Corps as an FMF Corpsman (medic) and being selected for an elite Scout Sniper platoon, I found what I was looking for. After we returned from deployment, I left the military to earn my Bachelors Degree. While attending school, I spent my winters in Lake Tahoe, California, pursuing my passions of snowboarding, skiing, and being in the mountains. Following graduation, I moved to Tahoe full-time to snowboard professionally. During the winters, I spent my days on the mountain; in the summer, I worked in a restaurant, and in my spare time, I studied things like math, programming, and economics. After nearly two years in the mountains, I left my dream life behind and moved to New York City to pursue a different kind of dream life. Wall Street. Back on the East Coast, I returned to school and officially began my career in finance with a prestigious internship on Morgan Stanley's fixed-income trading floor. From elite military operating groups to the remote peaks of the Sierras to a Wall St. trading floor, it's been an exciting journey. As I look forward, I can't help but think of David Bowie's famous words:"I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring."
