Grace Blu is not a single person, rather a pseudonym for the design firm that Principal Designer Rona Graf dreamed up in 2007. Rona knew that most design firms are named after the founder(s), but in her mind design is collaborative effort. It’s not one person. So, since team effort has always been a part of who she is, she decided to name the firm after after her favorite girls’ name and color (at the same time, she was pregnant, and knew it was a boy, so she couldn’t use the name Grace for him:) She knew by not having the firm named after her, this would reinforce to clients and employees that successful design comes from collaboration and not based upon one individual’s opinion. As an aside, Rona will however, at times answer to the name, Grace! The Grace Blu team has a reputation for thinking “Outside the Box,” and not designing in a “Cookie Cutter” or “One Size Fits All” approach. One look at Grace Blu’s portfolio, will show you that no two projects are alike just as no two clients have the same personalities. As a result, a recent collaboration with RD Olson Development on LIDO House Hotel in Newport Beach sparked a social media frenzy ultimately being named “HGTV” Designer of the Year. In addition, the highly creative and organized team has captured the attention of print and online publications like HGTV Magazine, Arch Digest, Better Homes & Gardens, CA Home & Design, RUE Magazine, Modern Luxury, Orange County Register, and Coast Magazine.
