About Ronald D. Brown

Ron is an experienced transactions lawyer who brings real world experience to every client engagement. He began his career at Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts and gained additional experience with, Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae. In addition to large Wall Street law firm experience, he has a wealth of knowledge gained from his experiences in law and business on the African continent. Ron is experienced in such areas as project, asset and lease finance, acquisitions and dispositions, real estate, public utilities and energy. Ron has substantial experience financing power projects, aircraft, shipping assets and equipment in the U.S, Africa, South America and Asia representing banks, airlines, lessors, project developers and African governments. Ron’s acquisition/disposition experience includes the sale and purchase of assets and company ownership interests in a variety of sectors, including energy, manufacturing, financial services and transportation. Ron’s real estate experience includes property acquisition transactions, real estate development and real estate finance. Ron has worked and lived in a number of countries on the African continent. He has engaged in business or legal transactions in over 10 different African countries. His African legal experience includes corporate transactions, project finance, privatization and regulatory experience. In particular, he has served as outside counsel to African National Power Companies in privatization transactions, project development transactions, acquisition of distribution assets and in the preparation of strategic memoranda for public review and approval. Ron’s experience also includes serving as counsel to an African energy regulation board, including as a member of the initial legal advisory team advising the regulator in all aspects of energy regulation, capacity building, stakeholder relationships and creation of a regulatory environment compatible with international private sector investment. Ron concentrates his practice on (i) corporate transactions, primarily advising clients on acquisitions and dispositions of assets,(ii) counseling emerging companies, particularly in the area of technology, on structure and real estate finance through the use opportunity zone finance, and (iv) Africa transactions. Ronald Brown is a graduate of Harvard College (AB), the New York University School of Law (JD) and the New York University Graduate School of Business (MBA).
