I returned from the Gulf War a Combat veteran 1992, I went to work for Frito-Lay Southeast Division in Perry Georgia. In 1996 I crashed and burned I was battling with PTSD and had no clue I didn't get any help until 2007, everyone I went to said nothing was wrong. Some Vietnam Veterans ask me to join them at the Vet Center in Macon, Georgia it was after numerous sessions and meetings that I learned what PTSD was and meant. I had 14 months of Intense Therapy with some fantastic Doctors and Case Managers at The Carl Vinson VAMC. Upon completion I applied for a position and my journey begin I was a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist for 3 years I assisted veterans with navigating barriers to gain employment in the Federal and Private sector. I later changed positions and became a Certified Peer Support Specialist advocating for veterans who are homeless, unemployed, and those dealing with Mental Health experiences as I am evidence that you can get the help and succeed having the quality of life that you deserve.
