About Ronald Lott

I began my career in the "helping professions" in 1968 as a Combat Medical Specialist in the US Army. I later attended training as a Practical Nurse and then entered medical training as a Physician Assistant (PA). As a military PA I served in various staff positions and as a general practice primary care practitioner until I attended specialty training in occupational medicine and training as an Industrial Hygienists culminating in the Masters of Public Health degree. Afterwards, I was assigned to study the effects of occupational hazards (non combat) of active duty solders at Fort Campbell, KY. Retiring from the Army in 1988, I decided to leave the arena of patient care and apply my experiences to the prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses. I completed doctoral studies, specializing in Occupational Health and Safety in 1993. Since that time I have directed a consulting staff dedicated to assisting businesses and industries in their efforts to protect the health and safety of their workforce while meeting regulatory guidelines. Along with my experiences in preventing injuries and illnesses during the past 27 years, my experiences as a medical practitioner and as the manager of several medical facilities provides me a unique perspective in advising clients in the area of occupational health and safety. Though I enjoy the physical aspects of safety, I have particular interest in the less conspicuous areas of chemical, ergonomic and biological hazards to which workers may be exposed. This is particularly important related to America's aging workforce and the relationship of non-occupational related medical disorders to the hazards one may be exposed to in the workplace. My primary goal is to do whatever is possible to identify and evaluate hazards that may effect not only the safety, but the health of American workers.
