About Ronan Meghen

My career has had two distinct paths, the first spent working in industry specifically with Otis Elevators as an Engineer at various grades. In the ten years I was with Otis I experienced a very wide range of Construction, Commercial, Industrial, Power Generation and Pharmaceutical sectors. In 1995 my Insurance career began when I joined Irish National Insurance as an Engineer Surveyor. This work involved statutory inspections on a diverse range of lifting equipment and some pressure plant in everything from flour mills, ESB power stations and Bord na Mona plants, to apartment and office blocks. In 1998 I moved to Farrell & Ass now OSG Loss Adjusters, initially my brief was to handle Engineering claims. Over the eight years with OSG I diversified and became involved in General Property and Liability cases. This experience provided a great understanding of the causes behind losses. In 2006 I moved, this time to Zurich as a Risk Engineer, where I am currently. I am now involved in all aspects of Risk Surveying across Property & Liability. In 2018 I was appointed to the role of Risk Engineering Team Leader /Country Manager in addition to my risk surveying duties. The wide variety of experience gained during my present and previous careers provides me with a special understanding of the risks faced by policyholders. Along with being a qualified electrician, I have technical lift engineering qualifications and extensive practical experience. I hold a diploma from CILA now CII, a higher diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (HDip SHWW) and CIRM from the Institute of Risk Management. I am a Chartered Member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CIOSH), member of IRM, member of the Risk Control Authority, I am also a member of Association of Irish Risk Managers (AIRM) and the Dublin Insurance Institute.
