About Roope Virtanen

From mechanic to maintenance manager to design engineer — I combine hands-on experience with academic expertise to deliver practical, reliable solutions. I am a mechanical engineer with a unique career path: from mobile forklift mechanic fixing heavy-duty machinery at customer sites, to maintenance manager, and now to mechanical design engineer and technical support. This journey from a blue-collar background to earning a Master of Science degree in just 4.5 years highlights my ability to adapt, learn quickly, and succeed even when starting from scratch. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from LAB University of Applied Sciences and a Master of Science from LUT University, graduating with strong results (GPA 4.4 and 4.2). My studies were conducted fully in English, and I successfully balanced them alongside full-time work. My expertise lies in 3D design, with advanced and continually expanding knowledge of SolidWorks. In my current role, I also provide technical support for technicians, work closely with international customers, and cooperate with overseas technical teams as part of a company importing machines abroad. This blend of design work, hands-on support, and customer interaction has given me a broad technical foundation and strong communication skills. I am recognized for strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to tackling challenges, whether technical or outside my immediate field. When I encounter something unfamiliar, I make it a priority to learn quickly and deliver results. I also enjoy helping others develop their skills and sharing knowledge to strengthen both individuals and teams.
