About Rory Baker

As a dual British and South African citizen, I have unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom and South Africa. Over my thirty years' working experience, I have a obtained a wide range of skills, specialising in maximising individual and team delivery in wide range of projects and programmes. I have managed teams in delivering large infrastructure programmes at a national level within South Africa. My most prominent attribute is that I create a working environment that enable my team to play at their strengths and deliver their best work. My team members generally experience me as approachable, supportive, and fostering in them a self-belief in who they are and what they can offer. My greatest sense of achievement comes from guiding others to perform at their best, and to see them grow to their full potential, and I will go out of my way to help team members achieve their goals. I encourage independent thinking and suggestions within the team, and I view mistakes as learning opportunities, not reason for my disapproval. I am unafraid to make decisions based on my many years of experience and can also lead upwards by empowering decision-making authorities with clear options and consequences. I have an ability to adapt to changing circumstances and can direct teams and clients towards an end goal. Very little takes me by surprise in the realm of change management and I can deal confidently with the fact that we have a plan, and we have what happens, and they aren’t necessarily in alignment so I can work confidently with “what happens” in the pursuit of goals and objectives.
