About Rory Green

I started fundraising at 10, when I volunteered to help run my school’s annual Bike-A-Thon for juvenile cancer research. Fundraising became my vocation at 14, when I lost a friend to Leukemia. I will never be a doctor, a researcher, or an oncologist – but I have found a career where I can use my skills and strengths to make a difference in the causes I care about. I have had the privilege of working with some amazing organizations, and even more amazing donors. My time at the Ottawa Hospital Foundation taught me how to listen with open ears and an open heart. Working with the lobbying arm of UBCs student union gave me an opportunity to build, and successfully implement, constituent engagement strategies. The Canadian Cancer Society was where my head, heart and soul were invested in expanding corporate giving and increasing The Society’s capacity to fight cancer. I spent two years at BCIT as a Senior Development Officer, part of a major gifts team charged with developing and growing a major gifts program. I am presently the Acting Director of Gift & Estate Planning at Simon Fraser University, where I engage alumni and donors in supporting students, engaging the community and advancing research. I am interested in connecting with other fundraising professionals who share my love of this profession, and individuals and organizations who want to form a better relationship with Simon Fraser University.
