About Rory Storm

I enjoy working on or being a part of projects that help people. As an avid talker and lifelong learner, I usually find myself in roles where I'm engaging with others, public speaking, teaching/instructing, or helping in the facilitation of specific projects. I enjoy trying to make communications, processes, and systems streamlined and as efficient as possible. As cliché as it may be to say, I do consider myself a "jack-of-all-trades." Here's 3 reasons why: 1. Professionally, most people know me to be involved with teaching about renewable energy industries, as part of Canada's commitment to try and reach a Net-Zero economy in carbon emissions. I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2019, having obtained a double major in Economics, and in Drama (along with a leadership certificate through the Peter Lougheed Leadership College). University changed my perspective substantially, as I attended as an older student, involving myself with several committees and organizations, graduating at 28. Prior to university, and occasionally times since: I've been known as a heavy equipment operator with a class 1. I grew up in rural Alberta, where it isn't uncommon to have such a background. I've worked in Oil & Gas, coal mining, and road construction in various capacities over a 10 year span. While I no longer wish to work in this type of occupation, having the skills and knowledge of civil construction practices are valuable tools in my belt. My interests are broad and encompassing. One of my best attributes is that I'm a reader, when i get interested in something, I read up and learn as much information as long as it piques my interest and I rationally understand the information. As someone from rural Alberta, I feel i grew up with a broader depth of interests of working with ones hands and figuring out how to fix things with what you have. As a powerlifter I've learned a lot on nutrition, anatomy, and biomechanics. As a student of economics and drama, I've learned a lot on how culture, governance, education, law, and marketing intersect.
