I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in Mechanical Engineering in 2002. During college, I completed a co-op with Air Liquide where I continued to work upon graduation until January of 2010. During my co-op, I worked as a Plant Engineer in our Bayport, TX location and a Project Engineer. Upon graduation, I started in the New Hire Program (ALLEX Engineers) where I completed 3 rotations in different Business Units: ALPC (E&C) rotation, Large Industries Business Unit (H2/Syngas) rotation and Industrial Customers rotation. From December 2003 until February 2006, I moved on to be a Zone Engineer for our Southeastern Zone where I performed a multitude of projects for 25+ plants. Some examples are planning and assisting in plant turnarounds and repairs, performing Hydrocarbon Audits, RCFAs, Vulnerability Studies, installed Oil/Grease project, supporting our in house E&C ALPC on plant projects, as well as supporting all plants with technical and operational issues.From February 2006 until June 2008, I was fortunate to move to our IC Ops Control group as a Senior Strategic Analyst. I had the opportunity to conduct monthly Airgas Power Accruals and True-ups, I developed and managed several P & Ls for several business units, I prepared monthly reporting for VPs based on my P & Ls, worked closely with Accounting and worked with Project Managers, Energy Managers and OCC to find efficiency savings.From June 2008 until January 2010, I was an Energy Manager for the Northeast Region where I managed and purchased electricity for 25+ plants in the NE region. A large part of the job was to proactively locate, evaluate and implement cost saving initiatives as Energy was our largest cost. I supported all Business Units to identify lower costs, monitored the market for changing regulations, participated in lobbying efforts on behalf of industrial user groups and developed strategies to negotiate power agreements with suppliers for new and existing facilities.
