I am a proud First Generation Latinx professional that has 5+ years working in higher education within the academic and student affairs field. With a flair for storytelling, I approach career counseling and programing by taking a narrative approach to understand our students’ stories often using elements like ‘chapters’ or ‘characters’ that help frame, reframe, challenge, and or cause ‘aha!’ moments to help them take that next step in their career. This has become a distinguished characteristic in the work that I do and often comes out in my discussions with students and colleagues as well as programing efforts for the Career Development Center. I love to re-vamp concepts and often take a ‘immersive-experience’ approach to learning a concept like resume writing or interviewing practices. I use my creativity to not only create new content, designs, and programing elements, but also thinking of solutions to bridging career education to student experiences.
