Background
About Rosalind Snyder
I am a passionate and driven environmental professional who, through my workplace and academia experiences, has gained a deep appreciation for working towards enhancing our collective relationship with the environment and achieving greater ecological sustainability. I hope to pursue a career in which I can apply my technical skills in environmental science, skills in communication and developing interpersonal relationships and my knowledge of the complex nature of sustainability to effectively address present and future challenges. Through my skills and knowledge, I am capable of taking on environmental projects and outreach efforts to fulfill conservation goals and engage communities in sustainability. From my educational experience, I gained considerable knowledge of key environmental concepts in terrestrial, aquatic and wetland ecosystems, experience in data collection/ field work, writing reports/environmental assessments and giving presentations with a strong attention to detail. My graduate degree, Masters in Environmental Studies (MES), focused one community sustainability initiatives throughout the Greenbelt region of Ontario, exploring how different initiatives, each addressing different aspects of sustainability, are applying foundational concepts of sustainability to make positive impacts in their communities through encouraging ecological integrity, promoting equity, increasing opportunities and building strong connections. My workplace experience has largely been in conservation and community environmental engagement, managing conservation projects, leading teams of staff and volunteers and completing both technical and outreach communication material. My honed technical skills include ecological monitoring, field surveys, habitat restoration, and native plant propagation. From these workplace experiences, I have developed excellent leadership, interpersonal and collaboration skills, being able to effectively develop positive and professional relationships when engaging children, community members and my fellow employees. I intend to bring this to all future work in which I can help building strong relationships to encourage collaborative and interdisciplinary solutions.
