About Rose Dell

Visible, engaged, and mission-driven—these are the principles that have shaped my 20+ year career in law enforcement and public safety. As the Assistant Chief of Police at Yale University, I bring a strategic and inclusive leadership style focused on organizational excellence, officer development, and community-centered policing.Throughout my career—from my early days on patrol to leading large-scale police operations and policy development—I have championed innovation, transparency, and operational reform. Whether coordinating complex responses to major events, rebuilding morale through meaningful recognition programs, or advancing departmental accreditation efforts, I aim to lead with integrity and impact. My approach to leadership is people-first: building trust, improving morale, and fostering a culture of accountability and pride.I am a Yale alum and a lifelong learner, with advanced leadership training from FBI-LEEDA and the Police Executive Research Forum. My time in leadership roles within the New Haven Police Department provided a foundation for effective crisis management, stakeholder engagement, and policy innovation, which I now carry into my role at Yale.I am passionate about raising professional standards, empowering those I lead, and ensuring our public safety mission reflects the values of service, fairness, and respect. I take pride in being a resource to my team, a bridge to the community, and a catalyst for forward-thinking change in modern policing.
