Training and Project Management | 4 years In every job I take on training and mentoring roles. It is part of my passion to share my knowledge and experiences with others, not only to build comraderie, but to expand collective knowledge, improve workflows, fill knowledge gaps and serve the community more effectively. I've trained countless early childhood educators, mental health counselors, office staff and case managers. I make a point to learn every part of every process and improve on it wherever possible, simply because I love what I do. Medical Assistant and direct patient care | 4 years This professional journey began at Aurora Mental Health in which was trained in an inpatient psychiatric setting. I learned to clinically assess patients for medical fragility, determine their medical needs and then determine how to best accommodate them, safely and correctly dispense medications, and monitor vitals. In my experience with primary care I performed in clinic testing with equipment and a variety of assessments. Additionally I answered phones to schedule appointments, process referrals, prior authorizations, and triage emergent and non emergent medical complaints. Aside from the host of technical skills, I learned to keep a cool head in emergencies and problem solve quickly and creatively, as well as how to keep track of the highly sensitive data for over patients in compliance with HIPAA. Case Management | 4 years What do I love about being a case manager? I can serve my community directly. It's important to me to have a service minded and accessible approach to problem solving. I've worked primarily with disabled, homeless, and mentally ill populations. I've been responsible for the coordination of admissions of patients from hospitals to step downs, dispatched emergency services for members of the community in crisis, and even helped patients figure out what to do with their service animals while they are hospitalized. Every day is different because everyone's situation is different, and I've learned to approach each situation uniquely to tailor make plans for the client.
