About Rose Gates MacKenzie

I am passionate, curious, and committed to justice, equity, and healing. I stand for helping through action and art. I value being questioned. As a theatre artist and director I seek to better situate disabled and queer peoples within a theatrical legacy dominated by cis-normativity and ableism, to allow us to advocate our needs and truths. As a student of ethics, I direct my focus to the voices that hegemonic academia sweeps under the rug. As a makeup artist, I am committed to uplifting the power of everyone with whom I work to amplify their unique features. I have been a student, a (non-professional) caregiver, dramaturg, college committee co-chair, Quaker committee clerk, Quaker youth clerk, safer sex educator, plus-size clothing retailer, barista, and cashier. I am currently a social justice educator and student services practitioner, pushing continuously to anti-racist, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction practices.
