About Roselle Palentinos

I taught grade schoolers and students with autism spectrum for eight years. Within these different schools, I learned to work with special students. I found it very rewarding because it is not every day that professionals get to see someone reach an important milestone, grow as an individual, learn a new skill, or became expressive on how your have helped them. Teaching students with autism is the best. However, it is bittersweet as a school year ends and I get a new group as a teacher. I taught first grade at Lumina Montessori, Inc. This school used US Curriculum through Montessori approach with inclusion program for students with different learning disabilities. I used work stations to incorporate different subjects to help students develop communication skills and build relationships. Moreover, I create an Individualized Educational Program (IEP) for students with special needs which helps me a lot to set all the learning goals and activities intended for students. I prepared materials for lessons, assignments and assessments and evaluated, corrected and graded student performance to identify gaps in skills or knowledge and set realistic goals. I also communicated student progress, academic difficulties or behavioral concerns to parents, guardians and administration using tact and professionalism to improve student academic performance. I had the opportunity to work as an ESL teacher at 51Talk. I taught the basics of English grammar and conversational speaking abilities to ESL students and increase their reading levels by integrating online word game.
