About Roselly Tejada

I have been an Elementary school teacher for seven years. During the seven years I have taught 3rd grade reading and writing, 4th grade reading and wiring, and the last four years in 5th grade science and math. My specialty is in science teaching hands-on and attending a two year professional development of STEM education through UF. In the STEM initiative I developed lesson plans with fellow teachers and implemented these skills withing my classroom. The results of using STEM in my classroom has resulted in me winning High Impact Teacher of the Year in Palm beach County. This only awarded to 10% of the teacher population in the Palm beach School District. The data was collected for about three years and the FSA scores for my students went above the total average of other students in Palm Beach County. To further my career, I am currently enrolled in Barry University located in Miami, Florida. I am set to graduate at the end of December, 2017. This has motivated me to further my education past the K-12 system into college/university student affairs department. I have attended NASPA to learn more about higher education and researching on how to close the gap between K-12 and higher education. Future goals is to use my teaching skills and experience to help first generation students succeed in completing their college careers.
