About Roshan Peiris

I started my career as customer service at Menzies aviation, I worked in the department for just over a year, before I moved into a flight operations role as a flight clerk, doing daily duties starting from contacting airlines and data entry into airlines systems, working under the guidelines of IATA and airline regulations. After working 4 years as a clerk, I had an opportunity to start working as an Operations supervisor. My duties did not end just at supervising, it also included writing training syllabus for new and existing staff to use and learn day to day operations. I also assisted in entering and logging risk assessments for security and operations managers. From Menzies I moved on and started my own business as owner operator in a boutique personal training studio. Before starting the studio I completed a Cert IV in Personal training and Business Management. I moved back into the freight forwarding industry in 2018, starting at Mode Logistics as an export operator in Perishable exports. Learning all aspects of using cargowise and EDI Soft, for RFPs and generating all certificates required for exports, In this role I was also taught customer service, for our clients such as JBS, Bega, grape co and many other exporters. I worked at Mode for 1 year before I moved into Wiseway logistics. I started at Wiseway logistics in early 2019, where I assisted in building the newly formed perishable team, working with Tassal and Huon, exporting salmon to China. Working in air exports, I moved and started the first perisbale sea freight containers to China (Citrus) this was a new path for me and I was very excited to learn another aspect in the exporting side of the business. From this position, I was asked to help the Wiseway import team, because of my background at Menzies, and having knowledge in ABF legislation, assisted the imports team in implementing new procedures for the team. After 6 months, I was made import manager, where I assisted the team with creating and working with new software to handle the volume of e-commerce cargo coming through the facility, I worked in this role for 1.5 years in this role. I completed both my AA accreditation for Quarantine, and completed the 77G accreditation on Wisetech. I started working with Austway Express in 2022, as branch manager, I'm still currently working at Austway Express, we are currently in the process of completing our 77g bonded license and also completing our IATA accreditation for exports.
