About Roshmi Mishra

Roshmi Mishra (She/her) is a college educator and consultant, whose focus is informed by her experiences as a yoga and meditation educator. Roshmi’s background is rooted in both science and educational practices. She has a Ph.D. from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a focus on Public Policy and Social Change. Her life’s work is finding ways to increase the opportunity for students to flourish through the engagement of mindful yoga. She has an M.S. in education from Duquesne University and a B.S. in Biology from Carlow University, both located in Pittsburgh, PA. She has worked in the public school system in particular within Title I schools within rural communities in upstate New York. She continues to teach at the university level, at both a private university in Florida as well as adjunct work for the State University of New York and Antioch College, where she is committed to teacher education and the teaching of diverse and socially-just pedagogy. As an adjunct for Antioch University, where her philosophies align with the mission of the university, to “fuel positive, progressive change in the world” through her interactions with students. Her teaching and philosophy align both dignity and opportunity for the student. She is an adjunct for SUNY-Oswego, in the School of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instructions. Her teaching aligns with the school's main thread of philosophy which includes social justice, diversity, and inclusivity. Her research and publications are all involved with the application of mindfulness within the school setting. Her certifications include (CHEP) Excellence in on-ground teaching and online teaching, Trauma-informed yoga, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Nonviolent Communications. All of these have informed how she teaches. Roshmi has been involved with the training of schools and staff on how to bring more mindfulness and other contemplative practices into their own lives as well as the lives of the students in their district.
