About Rosie Chase

Rosie Chase completed a Bachelor of Music Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2004. She specialised in electro-acoustic and audio-visual composition, music technology and advanced studio techniques and recording. Whilst completing her studies she worked as an assistant at the Sydney-based post-production music house Supersonic. In 2005 she was awarded the Emerging Composer Grant from the Australia Council to create a multimedia performance piece, Broken Reflections for cello, clarinet and electronics. The following year this was developed into a short film whilst at AFTRS. Rosie graduated with an MA in Screen Composition from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in 2007. During her time there she concurrently studied sound design, completing courses in location recording, foley, dialogues, atmospheres, tracklaying and mixing, enabling her to thoroughly explore the relationship between music, sound and image. From 2007 to 2008 Rosie worked as an assistant sound editor for the renowned sound designer Sam Petty, gaining valuable experience working on two features and a number of short films. She has actively worked in the industry as a professional composer and sound designer including projects for theatre, film, advertising and collaborating with artists on sound installations. Most recently she has completed the film score for the soon to be released feature Wish You Were Here, worked as a freelancer for sound designer Nigel Christensen, and has joined Basil Hogios’s team at First Cut Studio as a composer/sound designer. Her recent achievements include selection as a finalist for the 2011 APRA PDA Awards, and undertaking of the sound design for The Maestro, a short film that won 3rd place in the 2011 Tropfest competition.
