About Rosie Pickering

I started off wanting a career as a designer and followed that path doing design based courses at Leicester College and Coventry University. It soon became apparent that my strongest areas were pattern cutting and garment construction and that was my focus. I dropped out of university after one year after simply just not enjoying it or feeling it suited me, and I didn't have freedom I wanted to work how I wanted to. I left with no intention of being in the industry and carried on working behind a bar in Warwick which I thoroughly enjoyed. I received an email from Misirli where I had previously worked on a summer placement as a design assistant. Misilri is a clothing manufacturer based in Leicester, they specialise in licensed children's nightwear and underwear, breaking in to men's underwear and nightwear, they also are a fantastic sock manufacturer with factories in Turkey. Misirli offered me a job as Assistant Product Developer on garments of which I immediately snapped up. I soon progressed to being a Technical Assistant as well as Assistant Product Developer. As time went on I became more and more involved in the technical aspect of the business and was moved on to being Junior Garment Technologist and given my own accounts. My aim is to be a Senior Garment Technologist for a retailer one day with more experience and be able to train people in garment technology as I am now.
