About Ross Barrett

After graduating from University of Leeds in 2015 I spent a few years in the tech industry, which is where I found my passion for teaching and presenting. I moved from the UK to Canada in 2018 and have since become a permanent resident. Setting up in Whistler, I put my passion to use in the hospitality industry, whilst also dipping into teaching at the foreign language school. After managing at The Longhorn Saloon (Whistler's busiest Apres Ski bar) for two seasons, I made the move to Gibbons head office, where I got to apply my love of teaching as the Personnel Training & Development manager for all businesses. After a year, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to take on the bigger challenge of leading the People & Culture department, in which capacity I oversee strategy across all core HR functions. Outside of work I'm a keen footballer and like to keep fit by running, skiing and going to the gym. I pick up and drop hobbies like they're going out of fashion and Pemberton is the perfect place for this! After reconciling with the fact I may never break 90 on the golf course, the latest thing I've got into is mushroom foraging.
