About Ross Buckley

Following a very fulfilling and rewarding 38 years with KPMG I retired in October 2020 to pursue governance opportunities, and help NZ businesses and leaders succeed in these times of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity - plus do a bit more cycling, running and family time. After graduating with a BBS from Massey University I started my career with KPMG Wellington and was fortunate to work for KPMG in continental Europe and North America, returning to NZ in 1990 (with my Dutch wife Irma). During my KPMG career I managed the Audit & Risk, Tax, People and Performance divisions and was Executive Chairman for KPMG NZ from 2011-2020. I was also a Board member of KPMG Asia Pacific Board and a member of the KPMG Global Council. I passionately believe the role of business is to help fuel New Zealand’s prosperity: “New Zealand is an economy that is highly influenced by the success of its enterprises. My passion for New Zealand stems from my desire to see New Zealand become a place our children are equally as passionate about and want to live, thrive and prosper in. In my free time, I am active with my family and when time permits, I enjoy cycling and long distance running.
