About Ross Friday

Having gained my doctorate at London’s University of Greenwich, I now work at this award-winning institution where I divide my time between research and lecturing. I have conducted laboratory and field-based studies on topics including covert surveillance detection, unconscious bias, how beliefs affect mental health, the bond between blood relatives, behavioural changes under pressure, the importance of word choice, schizophrenia, the function of the brain’s temporal lobe, and intuition. I have been invited to discuss my findings via guest lectures at international conferences and have had my work published in peer-reviewed journals. I have also been the course lecturer teaching subjects as diverse as ‘Applied Psychology’, ‘Criminology and Forensic Psychology’, ‘Research Methods’, and ‘Exceptional Human Experience’. Throughout my time teaching, I have always ensured my lectures and seminars are informative and factual, whilst using as many real-world examples and practical demonstrations as possible which has resulted in highly developed communication skills and the ability to disseminate and the relay complex information clearly. My decade designing complex psychology experiments focusing on human behaviour, analysing the resulting data, and presenting my research has resulted in valuable and transferable skills that can be put to practical use. I am proud to have been awarded research funding and numerous bursaries including the prestigious Bial Foundation grant, and to have been involved in ground-breaking studies conducted at renowned institutions including the University of Oxford.
