Ross is a Senior Associate in the Tax Controversy Team at MinterEllison. Ross has a wealth of experience in advising large businesses and high wealth individuals in the management of their tax issues with the ATO and state tax offices in various industries including - Automotive, Telecommunications, Financial, Advertising, Entertainment, the Arts, Property and Construction. He has also acted for the ATO and Commonwealth and State Government Departments and Agencies. Working closely with the private taxpayers and his experience in working with the ATO gives Ross an unique insight into both aspects of a taxation dispute and makes him well placed to achieve the best outcome at the earliest opportunity for all his clients. For private clients, Ross's expertise includes - managing compliance risk reviews and audits involving all aspects of tax, including Transfer Pricing - responding to the ATO position papers and objecting to assessments- advising on evidentiary issues- mediation and settlement of disputes with the ATO - advising on tax technical issues- advising on tax technical issues and legal professional privilege- managing freedom of information requests; He has represented the ATO in the conduct of tax appeals and tax related matters, primarily in the Federal Court and AAT. In acting for the ATO, Ross has advised in relation to Freedom of Information and access gathering and conducted mediations and litigation of major tax appeals in the Federal Court and Administrative Appeals Tribunal and associated proceedings in the state Supreme Courts and the Family Court. Ross also represented the CFA in the 2009 Bushfires Royal Commission and an Asian Government in civil litigation. He represented large corporates and high wealth individuals in their tax disputes with the ATO whilst at PwCLegal. Ross has a wealth of experience acting for Government Departments and Agencies whilst at Maddocks and the Australian Government Solicitor.
