About Ross MacDonald

Currently Director of Theater at Buckingham Browne & Nichols, a private school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. My core belief as an educator and artist are based on creating an environment to empower all participants. I believe strongly in the power of the ensemble and that no individual is greater than the collective. Over time the joy of the process has become more and more the center point of all my work. Techniques, skills, methodology need to constantly evolve in order to fit the rapidly changing world we live in. Social, emotional and spiritual needs are imperative in fostering a happy and healthy work environment; but that shouldn’t mean we look also at developing and curating self discipline and motivation. Over the past few years especially after Covid I’ve been struck by a landscape that now more than ever needs a combination of looking at our daily challenges through an artistic and creative lens. So many of our more mundane issues need only for us to remove the ego and look instead to share the common ground. So much harm has been caused by negativity and self doubt; that acts of kindness and encouragement are essential especially with the development of our next generation.
