Background

About Ross Morin

I'm an award-winning filmmaker and award-winning film production professor with over 16 years of full-time teaching and leadership experience in higher education. In my roles as Head of Film Production or Department Chair, I've enjoyed creating and developing dynamic filmmaking curricula, managing substantial budgets, and supervising and hiring faculty and staff. As a queer person from a working class background, I integrate my commitment to inclusivity and socially-conscious filmmaking into my courses, creative work, departmental curriculum, and management style. I'm a fiction, documentary, and experimental filmmaker who works in the roles of Director, Cinematographer, Screenwriter, Editor, Producer, Sound recordist/designer, and Assistant director - and I teach these skills in the context of a liberal arts education. You can learn about the department I chair on my website Over the years, I've become a leader in my institution in curriculum development. Beyond the 24+ film courses I've designed and taught, I've also spent over a decade building, developing, and refining our entire general education curriculum at Connecticut College, in various committee and college leadership roles.
