About Ross Pomeroy

Historically, I spent a decade with the civil service, with evenings working in the bar trade before attending university as a mature student. I undertook a Year-zero, gained a 1st class hons degree, a PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, and PhD in composite materials engineering. I am also currently undertaking a MSc Data Science and Business Analytics for specific professional development purposes. I lectured P/T during my PhD and then F/T, covering subject areas including materials and manufacture and across business (enterprise, marketing, leadership and management etc), progressing to senior management within the University in 2009. My Faculty Partnership Manager position effectively chairs the forum for higher education programmes (levels 4-7) delivered in partnership by a portfolio of the University's partners. I have extensive experience working in partnership with the Royal Navy and a leading distance learning for professionals private provider (MLA College), as well as HE in FE. I also sit on the Exec. Man. Team of the South West Institute of Technology (SWIoT) and have involvement in other 'skills gaps' initiatives, such as the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult and Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW). My diverse background leaves my academic interests as focused on the philosophy of what is cross-disciplinary as they are within disciplines. Illustrated, in part, by my current position on two PhD supervisory teams, with one focused on autonomy in fishing and the other on nation branding through the arts.
