About Ross Smith

With over 25 years in the IT industry, I've had the privilege of working across some of Australia’s most demanding sectors — including defence, mining, and enterprise consulting. My career began deep in the infrastructure trenches (with a healthy dose of SharePoint), evolved through Solution Architecture, and now finds me consulting full-time through Garage of Awesome Consulting (GoAC) — the business I co-founded with my lovely wife, Emma Smith. Tech focus today? Cloud-first strategy, Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, AI, Business Analytics, and practical digital transformation. Consulting edge? Roadmapping, architecture, and delivery — always focused on outcomes, not just outputs.I’ve led high-performing teams, delivered projects across government and commercial sectors, and built a reputation for pragmatic, people-focused solutions that work in the real world. My technical background spans networking, security, virtualisation, data privacy, AI and cloud architecture — with hands-on experience in hybrid environments and modern workplace solutions.Alongside GoAC, I also operate a business distributing Geotab GO9 fleet tracking devices, helping organisations unlock the power of their fleet data for smarter operations.Outside of work, I have a serious soft spot for classic Japanese cars. GoAC used to import the occasional American gem, we love to get our hands dirty with rebuilds, races when we can, and lends a hand to fellow enthusiasts — because horsepower and cloud power aren’t mutually exclusive.Let’s connect if you're: Looking for an experienced consultant or architect for your next transformation project Navigating Microsoft 365, Copilot, Azure, or Power Platform adoption Curious about how fleet data and IoT can streamline your operations Or just want to chat cars, cloud, or the state of modern IT
