Summary: Design Engineer in the Power & Energy Team at Tony Gee & Partners, Design Manager for External Civil’s on a large scale substation project. Graduate ICE member (GMICE), NEC4 Accredited ECC Supervisor and STEM Ambassador. My Experience: I have over six years experience developing drainage designs to appropriate design standards using MicroDrainage across multiple sectors including that of Highways, Rail and power and energy. Recently I have made the move to developing drainage designs on Infodrainage following the industry move to this new advanced software. I am also involved in the design of watercourse crossings using Hy-8 design software, where recently I have advanced my knowledge into the use of Hecras watercourse modelling. Over the six years I have developed a good understanding of drainage design principles relevant to each sector applying good practice design across each solution, that provides a suitable hydrological solution as well as a sustainable one. My role involves me working with regulating authorities such as SEPA and Scottish water to gain necessary approvals for the projects he is managing from a drainage perspective, as well as being client facing in communicating design developments and solutions to proceed. Currently I have taken on a new role as Design Manager for the External Civil’s elements of a large scale HVDC platform design across 4 sites over Scotland. In this role I coordinate the design for all elements including drainage, foundations and cableways dealing with any technical issues and managing the design with other parties. I also hold a NEC ECC supervisor qualification and am working towards achieving his CEng accreditation at the end of 2024.
