About Rowan Bapty

I am a fourth year student studying Mining Engineering at UBC. Over the last year I have had the incredible opportunity of working at Rio Tinto's Diavik mine in the beautiful Northwest Territories. These last twelve months have been full of challenges and learning that I am eager to take forward into my future career. Working in such a unique climate has been eye opening to just how amazing parts of Canada are and how important it is to work towards proper mine closure and ensure we preserve these incredible environments. Throughout my time at Diavik I have found a passion for the creative problem solving that this industry requires. I have also enjoyed meeting many incredible people and working in underground conditions. I look forward to continuing my learning throughout my career and look forward to working with anyone from Diavik again in the future.
