About Rowan Levick

Following the completion of my bachelor's degree in Linguistics from William & Mary in December 2023, I began my position as the Lab Manager at the UTD Developmental Neurolinguistics Lab directed by Dr. Mandy Maguire. There I manage over 20 research assistants and participate in all aspects of research coordination. I've recently established a partnership between UTD and Uplift School District. My resesrch with the lab consists of work on several studies concerning neural activity during language tasks, longitudinal word-learning variation within children from lower SES backgrounds, mealtime language environments, and the investigation of cross-linguistic phonetic variation of nasals. My future research interests lie primarily in experimental investigation of phonetics and theoretical phonology. This includes but is not limited to language aquisition studies, perception, and production studies. During My time at William & Mary I fulfilled the requirements for honors in Linguistics and graduated summa cum laude. My honors thesis work and research assistant position in the w&m child language lab investigated the perception of the vowel lengthening sub-phonemic cue for immediately subsequent voiced obstruents. Recently I have presented this work at the William & Mary Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium and in the Charles Center Graduate and Honors Fellow Research Symposium in 2024.
