About Rowena Cairns

With over twenty years of experience in project management, environmental consultancy, engineering, and general management, I am a passionate and qualified Community Climate Action Lead at Banyule City Council. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Geological Engineering from RMIT University, and I am a certified Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia (MIEAust) and a Project Management Professional (PMP). In my current role, I lead and coordinate the development and implementation of the council's climate adaptation plan, which aims to enhance resilience, and foster community engagement and participation. I apply my skills and knowledge in committee management, new business development, and environmental awareness to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the needs and expectations of the council and the community. I also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including other local governments, state agencies, community groups, and contractors, to facilitate partnerships and knowledge sharing. I am motivated by the vision of creating a greener and healthier future.
